Kathleen is the author of The Nursing Mother's Companion which she wrote over twenty years ago after her early years of assisting mothers of her Breastfeeding Clinic at San Luis Obispo General Hospital and answering thousands of call from nursing mothers.
Written so that mothers can read the book as the baby grows, The Nursing Mother's Companion includes "Survival Guides" that address issues that may arise during specific periods over the course of nursing. The book became an instant best-seller in 1986 it has now sold over one million copies. The Nursing Mother's Companion is considered a classic by professionals and mother as well and can be purchased at Simply MaMa, in book stores or on line.
Kathleen's second book, The Nursing Mother's Guide to Weaning was written with Linda Ziedrich. This book was written for mothers who are considering weaning and wondering about when and how to go about it. This book covers the concerns that mothers have in making this important and sometimes emotional transition. It also tells parents how to wean as safely as possible. The new second edition is due in Spring 2007.
